Please inquire about what insurances I may take at this time.
Many people feel that since they have health insurance, of course they should use it to pay for their therapy or counseling appointments/ see an in-network therapist/ counselor. While that is an option, it is important to also consider what you are not getting when you use your insurance. CONFIDENTIALITY.
Managed Care Companies begin by requiring the dates you were seen, your diagnosis, how long you met for and what kind of session it was. In order to approve further visits, Managed Care Companies can call and discuss with the therapist/ counselor ANY aspect of your treatment. They can also require it to be written and submitted on paper or electronically. There is no limit to the amount of requests Managed Care Companies can make for information. And they always reserve the right to audit a chart. This means at any time, Managed Care Companies can legally request every detail of information obtained from you while in your therapy sessions. Once information from your sessions is released, it is impossible for the therapist / counselor to keep track of who and how many people come into contact with this information.
For your own protection, consider the reasons you are seeking therapy/ counseling and if it is worth it to waive your right to complete confidentiality by using your Managed Care Company.
Reduced fee services are available on a limited basis. If you are in need of a reduced fee, please ask if there are any openings at this time.
